Maxima is a useful (and free) Mathematica replacement.
GiNaC GiNaC is Not a CAS, but a high-level library for symbolic computation.
CLN CLN is a library for efficient computations with all kinds of numbers in arbitrary precision.
Cadabra A field-theory motivated approach to symbolic computer algebra.
LiE LiE is a computer algebra system that is specialised in computations involving (reductive) Lie groups and their representations.
texmacs GNU TeXmacs is a free wysiwyw (what you see is what you want) editing platform with special features for scientists. It has plugins for maxima, cadabra, octave and other CAS systems. SCiTE is a small and powerful scientific text editor with source highlighting and completion for TeX, LaTeX, C, fortran and C++. Libmatheval is a library (callable from C and Fortran) to parse and evaluate symbolic expressions input as text. Octave GNU Octave is a high-level language, primarily intended for numerical computations. It provides a convenient command line interface for solving linear and nonlinear problems numerically, and for performing other numerical experiments using a language that is mostly compatible with Matlab. Texmaker Texmaker is a free LaTeX editor, that integrates many tools needed to develop documents with LaTeX, in just one application. I prefer to be contacted by email.
