Gen-Ed course recommendations

Gen-Ed course recommendations

As you prepare your semester schedules be mindfull of University degree requirements, diversity requirements and Gen-Ed requirements. The lists below were compiled with the advise and recommendations made by physics majors past and present. Personal advise; world literature courses can be extremely interesting, and will introduce you to points of view very different from your own. I highly recommend them. I also recommend any courses dealing with world religion, and philosophy of science.

Majors should fill in the degree requirements chack-list to be found in the majors handbook to keep track of their progress towards degree. You might be asked to produce this by your advisor prior to registration.

Before you buy a book check www.gutenberg.org, you may be able to download it for free.

Before you buy classical music, check http://www.classiccat.net, an indispensible source of free classical music, very useful in a music appreciation course.

Jazz appreciation resources. See http://www.emusic.com/genre/291.html for MP3 files and links.

Resources for art appreciation. See http://www.abcgallery.com/ for a very complete collections of artists (all countries and eras) and their works. Nobody paints a tree like Shishkin, or a portrait like Kramskoy.
